They can also transfer products to waiting trucks or place products on the docks where forklifts can pick up products and load it onto trucks. When you ship a lot of product or a lot of oversized products overseas, then you need the services of an international shipper. These shippers utilize massive, ocean-going freighters to take your products globally. The items are lifted by crane onboard the top deck or wheeled into the ship manually by forklift and human labor. It will cost you more to use these freighters than it does the barges, but you are shipping products into the global market. Using an ocean liner still costs less than shipping by cargo plane too, so there is that.

As a manufacturing industry, you undoubtedly have a lot of industrial waste as well. A lot of this waste is transported via barge to specific locations. There are waste barges that handle everything from typical residential garbage to industrial and manufacturing waste to nuclear waste in a manner that is safe and in compliance with environmental protection laws. If you do your research on these companies in advance, you will be better able to choose one to manage the waste your company produces.
